The existing HMMWV chassis will be modified to increase the Gross<br />

Vehicle Weight (GVW) capability. This will be accomplished with<br />

minimum changes to the chassis and minor body reinforcements. The<br />

heavy HMMWV will accommodate a larger number of communication shelter,<br />

weapon systems, additional armament, increased ballistic (7.62mm and<br />

5.56mm Ball) protection, and towing capabilities. The above<br />

illustration is the Shelter Carrier version of the heavy HMMWV.<br />
