Atlanta Realtor Mark Spain Honored as YMCA Volunteer of the Year

ATLANTA - Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- The YMCA event was held at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Mark Spain was named Volunteer of the Year for the Forsyth County Family YMCA chapter.

A charter member of the Forsyth County Family YMCA, Spain became heavily involved in volunteering there in 2014. He helped chair the inaugural YMCA Spin-A-Thon that year, which raised more than $20,000 for the Forsyth location and its children’s programs. In 2015, the success of the event grew, with over $36,000 in donations and the YMCA has now made this an annual fundraiser.

For 2015, Spain has served on both the YMCA board and the executive committee for the Forsyth County Family YMCA. He also regularly works to help train staff there, allowing him to utilize his leadership skills and business/customer service background.

“I was looking for an organization or cause to help out with that was a match to my beliefs and value system,” said Mark Spain, a long-time resident of Cumming. “And I found it right here in my local community. Working with the YMCA has been a stark reminder about how much need exists at the local level.”

Spain says he is gratified to be honored with this Volunteer of the Year Award, especially to receive it alongside so many other amazing volunteer award winners for other YMCA branches in metro Atlanta.

He also works to give back to his home buyers and sellers, annually hosting a Client Appreciation Fall Festival as a way to thank them for their business. The event tends to have an attendance in excess of 500 people. His professional efforts have even received notice from those outside Georgia. In late 2014, Mark Spain received a major celebrity endorsement from real estate mogul and Shark Tank investor Barbara Corcoran. His team is the only one in metro Atlanta to be endorsed by Corcoran. Spain appeared in the commercial with Barbara Corcoran and the spot airs in the local Atlanta viewing market during various television programs.
