Day 3 of the clear out brings a confession. When I started teaching digital forensics back in 2004 (we launched Core Skills in Mobile Phone Forensics in 2005) I didn't own a mobile phone. I had an hour and a quarter commute to and from Wyboston and in the very early days I borrowed my wife's Vodafone Maxon MN1 until I bought my own Siemens MC60. Can't throw those out.... #howold #shareaphone
This is probably the best post on the internet today.
I might have been on that course!
My first mobile was the vodafone one but in red. Oh those were the days.
I remember being on a surveillance operation in 1986 where we thought the criminals were eavesdropping police radios. We were given two mobile phones for communications between our vehicles. After a while the other team came knocking on our window to ask us to answer the bloody phone. We were so unaccustomed to phones ringing when not in an office we all thought it must be a nearby telephone kiosk.
I think Maxon was better than Siemens. I had both of them.
Siemens were quality. The C35i would see off a 3310 ANY old day of the week!

1yIn his latter years my dad surveyed ships and spent a lot of time rolling around under them in the mud. The Nokia brick 6210/6310 was his go-to phone and he got through many... tough but effective. I still have mine.
