Lycaste tricolor is an orchid in the Lycaste genus. It is found in Costa Rica and Panama as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 600 to 1000 meters in rainforests with high humidity.

Appearance

The plant has ovoid, ribbed pseudobulbs without spines carrying 3 to 4, plicate, petiolate, elliptic-lanceolate leaves that may or may not be present as the tiny white to pink flowers bloom on an erect, several at once, to 5" [to 17.5 cm], single flowered inflorescence with the fragrant, waxy flowers occuring in the spring. Flower size to about 2 1/2" [to about 6.4 cm].
