Location 2

Peru. Specimen collections from three localities were found: Chanchamayo in the province of Junin, Oxapampa in Pasco and Carabaya in Puno.

Description 2

Flower Size 2.5" (6.25 cm).
Small to just medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a fan of narrowly elliptic leaves that bloom in the spring on an axillary, 8" (20 cm) long. It has one flowered inflorescences arising from the leaf axils and flowers from October to June.

Similar to H meleagris but differs in the horizontally held labellum and the 12 raised laminae down the mid-portion of the lip. . It has fan-shaped clusters of leaves and long rhizomes (Dodson and Bennett 1989).

Habitat Type 2

Wet montane forests at elevations of 300 to 1500 meters.
