The egret flower, aka heron grass. Following Kevin's beautiful photos, here are close-ups and whole-plant shots of mine. Really nice sweet fragrance during the day. Check out the cool 2" greenish spur too. You'll notice in the bottom photo the poor plant in the foreground. A squirrel razored that one off at the ground. Grrr.
Like Kevin, I haven't found these too difficult. I don't think they're really garden-ready, whatever the hardiness rating, because they're too small and easily overwhelmed. In a shallow boggy pot with constant moisture in full sun though, they take care of themselves. Dig in the fall and store in the fridge, and I had 4 of 5 re-emerge upon planting this spring. I find I get about 2 bulbs each year from each one grown. Power of compounding interest.....
