Health and Human Perspectives

Global changes, including climate change and habitat loss, have intensified the movement of both people and wildlife, such as bats, across the landscape.

Urbanisation, a significant consequence of global change, has intensified interactions among bats, livestock, and humans, potentially facilitating the transmission of pathogens between host animals. Despite their important role in key ecosystem services, negative stigmas associated with bats have fostered the perception of bats as pests in certain regions, resulting in adverse consequences for bat populations. Our work includes understanding the complexities of anthropogenic changes on human-wildlife interactions for effective biodiversity conservation, management, and for assessing zoonotic risks.
