Čiurlionis was a painter and composer who lived in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Čiurlionis painted with tempera on paper.

Čiurlionis' style was neo-romantic. It was a group of movements in areas like philosophy, literature, music, painting, and architecture. Painters who used neo-romantic styles often rejected or opposed realism and naturalism.

Čiurlionis' paintings often showed surreal landscapes.

I like how Čiurloinis was able to make the surreal feel real by bringing you into the painting in a way that could convince you that this was what the world actually looks like.

He has his own museum in Kaunas, Lithuania.
He studied art in Warsaw, Poland.
He has an asteroid named after him called 2420 Čiurlionis.
He was also a composer, one of his most famous works is "Spring Sonata."
He passed away in 1911 in Poland.
