This is one of the best battles i have ever seen, i wonder if its animated already i would love to see it animated!
This also was the best group yet.
I mean they had the karate fighter who beat many statues with his bare hands and legs,
they had or still have the sniper i don't remember whether he died or not, they have the new girl and killed off the useless girl which is pretty good as well as this is the hardest battle yet...
Many of the guys could actually fight hand to hand and shoot as well and still in the end everyone died.
Its crazy what if the group was a stupid group like the last one who had a kid and his grandma let alone the fucking dog and who dresses the dog in the suit btw? they never revealed that but i guess it would be kishimoto bless her soul.

Holy nuts....I forgot how many people die here. Like damn man, we lost probably 85% of the cast here. This volume continues right where we left off. Every time we think there's just one more enemy another just pops up. Kei is getting tired of this shit and rushes in and BAM shit goes crazy. Many people sliced in half by the end. So many dead. How will we recover?

What I liked: Man the carnage in here is insane. I was actually a bit in shocked at one scene. I didn't think two characters would bite the dust. Also how epic was that moment when Kei goes fucking insane? That was great. Also the sniper still a pro, love that dude. This is also very very fast paced, so not a dull moment.

What I didn't like: This fight is going on a bit long. We should have ended this volume with the fight. We still have more. Also the two gangsters were just a waste of time. They needed to die sooner. Also the girl who's in love with Kei is all like "I love you" when you met 10 minutes ago...dumb.

Overall Gantz is still uneven at this point but still insanely fun. If you love gore, cursing, lots of tits, and some amazing fight scenes you should be checking this series out. A solid 3 to 3.5 out of 5.

Gantz 7

Right.
This was major mayhem....even by GANTZ standards.
Plenty of deaths...limbs lost....Buddah cannibalism etc...plus more weird Buddah talk.
Things are going to change from here

This is a review of the entire series.

Synopsis: Gantz tells the story of a teenager named Kei Kurono, among others, who die but find themselves brought back in perfectly healthy bodies and forced to participate in a "game" where they must hunt down and kill aliens.

Review: I almost gave up on Gantz several times, but now that I've read it all the way to the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. The beginning is dragged down by repulsive and unlikable characters, a messily paced story, unnecessary sexualization and gratuitous violence without much substance. As it progresses, however, the character development becomes pretty incredible and the growing threat of the enemies feels truly well done. Once the real enemies are revealed, it's mind-blowing how the series had been secretly foreshadowing their arrival from the very beginning.

Although it takes a while, some really good characters are introduced later on in the series and they're the ones that made me want to read to the end. Some characters that were absolutely unbearable in the beginning became polar opposites of their original selves and even made me sympathize with them quite a bit. The protagonist Kei for example, I hated him with all my heart for the first third of the series, he became progressively more likable in the second third of the story and then he evolved into one of the most memorable, unlikely heroes I've ever seen in this storytelling medium throughout the final third. The last third of the series is unbelievably terrifying with some of the most gruesome and disgusting battle/survival scenes in the history of fiction. It's much more bearable and intense in the final third because this time the violence and horror is happening to people we actually care about instead of a bunch of unlikable nobodies.

The final third of the story is what made me feel so glad that I didn't give up on this series. It had me on the edge of my seat more times than I can recall. There are a ton of chapters but they're very short and full of action which makes the series a quick read despite having almost 400 chapters. So even though the first third of the story was kinda bad in my opinion, it doesn't last for long and the payoff that comes after it's over truly impressed me. It's a flawed, thrilling and horrifying action series that takes a while to kick off. When it finally kicks off, however, it kicks off extremely hard.

Some 8 years or so ago I've watched the anime with a terrible German Dub. Then a few years later I've watched the two live action movies and somewhat enjoyed them. Recently I rewatched the first live action movie and it sucked balls (4/10 stars). My roommate - who doesn't know anything about Gantz but the first movie - was highly unsatisfied by it. He hated it because none of his questions about the world and what's happening in it got answered. He didn't care to find out in the second movie and honestly I'm not really interested in watching it any time soon myself.
So I decided to finally pick up the source material and give the manga series a go. The manga was published form 2000-2013 whereas the anime was released in 2004. I wanna find out more about the world of Gantz and I am willing to continue the series although I'm highly unsatisfied with it right now.

From the 37 volumes I've finished so far the latest installment I've read made me angry as fuck. I can mostly overlook the big sections of fan service throughout the series. There are some fighting scenes I actually enjoyed but there are even more I hated. The mangaka seems to contradict himself by drawing some pictures wrongly.
Example 1: Kei lies on the ground missing one arm and one leg, his hair hangs back from his head and DOES NOT touch his forehead. The very next image (nothing happend) his hair doesn't hang back from his head but suddenly covers his forehead. Just why?
Example 2: The statue with the many arms slices right through Kei's right shoulder, seemingly cutting his arm of in one clean sweep. And on the very next drawing we see how his arm seems to be ripped off right where his elbow is. Just why?
Furthermore the Lara Croft copy is ready to fight for Kurono and possibly sacrifice her life during that attempt (we'll find out in the next installment). Just why? She knows him for like 5 seconds when she decides he's worth saving although he obviously doesn't give a fuck about her and even says so right to her face.

Volume 7: Chapter 71-82
Phase 1: Missions
Arc 3: Buddhist Temple Alien Mission

Kurono succeeded in killing the giant Buddha alien by breaking in through the wound on the giant's forehead. The mission not completed yet as there are few aliens left. Majority of the team were obliterated by the Buddha alien that look like a thousand arms Buddha; Avalokitesvara. The alien can regenerated back even though it has been destroyed many times.

At the end of the volume, only 4 of them are still alive; Kurono, Kato, Lara-Croft-look girl and a sniper. Kurono lost his left leg and his right arm by fighting with the thousand arms Buddha alien.

Wow, do things kick up a notch. The action actually grew more intense. And I was right about the "emotional setup" of the second female for Kei in the previous volume - it's... understandable, but it's impossible to be effective in any way except just for the T&A, considering she was just a brand new character and has zero development. The thing that trumps the action was the deaths - two in particular were surprisingly shocking and impactful with the way it was presented, and one I totally did not expect.

In the 7th edition of Gantz, the group continues to battle Buddha and other apparent statues/aliens. In these books, Gantz is a large ball that tells them the battles they are to enter and gives them suits and weapons. Some people come and go while others continue. It is an interesting tale.

Dibujo claro y detallado, tensión a raudales y consecuencias devastadoras.

The giant buddha monster is killed in a titanic battle and a surprising person dies.

This is where I realized that this is a 'no one is safe' series which I like. There is an insane amount of blood and gore with the fight scenes here.

Buddhist Temple arc continues up to hand to hand combat with the Avalokiteshvara, the statue with many arms. Hard core cation sequences in this volume, not much dialogue but key character driven moments and deaths. Amazing art as always.

Man what a volume, I wanted to give this 4 stars but I also feel it deserves 4.5 so... I'll give it 5 since volume 6 was also 5 stars and both of them are part of the same arc.

The story continues and with great writing and illustrations, it's still awesome.
