The French crop is the sexy, chic hairstyle the coolest girls in Paris are asking for in the salons this season - and it's little wonder.

Unsurprisingly, the bob haircut is (still) reigning supreme when it comes to hair trends. It's not hard to understand why: it's as versatile as it is flattering, and can be radical, rebellious, sexy and very, very chic.

An update on the perennially popular French bob, the French crop is the latest iteration of Google's most popular hairstyle - and it's a little cooler, a little shorter and a lot sexier.

According to Fabz Raja at Larry King, the French crop is androgynous and super flattering because it can be cut to suit your exact face shape.

“The French crop can be as androgynous as one pleases,” he explains. “If you want a super boyish look, try cutting short layers on top or around the face and leave it to dry naturally. If you want more texture, you could try adding some colour. And to really take it to the next level, you could add a fringe for ultra Parisian vibes.”

Whilst it might look intimidating to style, Fabz believes it's super easy to maintain once you're armed with the right products.

He suggests applying Redken Curvaceous (or any product that's aimed at curly and wavy hair to strengthen, moisturise, increase manageability, and reduce frizz) on damp hair to add curl, moisture and shine. “Scrunch the product in or take sections for extra definition, then diffuse or air dry accordingly to achieve the texture you want,” he suggests.

You can then try spritzing some of Larry King's volumising mist through wet or dry hair on day two to add texture. “The mist is super light so doesn’t make your hair instantly greasy,” he adds.

The best part of the French crop? It's so low-maintenance. The cut pretty much takes care of things, which means you won't have to spend as much time styling it. In fact, the messier, the better.
