The Citadel Montmédy:

Montmédy has a citadel built by Charles V, rebuilt by Vauban and finalized by Sere de Rivieres. Montmédy Citadel, one of the few fully preserved fortresses, was built on a rocky promontory at over 100 meters from the level of the lower town. It is surrounded by a moat of 2 km long. The length of its walls, bastions, half-moons and cons guards placed end to end over 6 km.
A Walking tour was created around the walls so that every visitor can understand and appreciate this great work.

The museum Jules Bastien-Lepage:

Jules Bastien-Lepage was a painter from the Meuse. The museum on the citadel of Montmédy and renovated in 2007, dedicated to him. He was born in 1848 in Damvillers, a small rural town not far from Montmédy. He died early in 1884 in Paris, he was 36 years old. He achieved fame in Parisian social circles, the quality of his portraits and stood at the forefront of his time. He was also known for his large canvases, depicting peasants of his village in their activities. Thus, Haying Season and October, are among his greatest masterpieces.
The first room presents a timeline that allows to place the works of Jules Bastien-Lepage in the context of his life. Medallions of his family show around him and touch screen kiosks allow you to discover his works thematically. The more dimly lit part is reserved for fragile works, you'll find old photographs, etchings and handwritten letters.
The second room is devoted exclusively to paintings.
Access to the museum Jules Bastien-Lepage is done by the tourist office. It is open from February to November. Call for information on schedules.

The Museum of fortification:

Since 1988, five rooms devoted to the history of the fortification are open within the citadel of Montmédy.
The Department of the Meuse forms a north-south barrier in the heart of Western Europe. Crossed from the earliest times by the mainstream of invasion, there were in the territory more than 200 sites and fortified buildings reflecting the strategic importance of the role he played. The Museum of fortification Montmédy aims to make that heritage known, to demonstrate their interest and make more intelligible the evolution of military architecture from its origins to the late 18th century.
Through a selection of original pieces, an abundant iconography, many models, weapons and historical documents, he draws a parallel progress in the field of armaments and their implications for development of protective devices.
Accessible to all, large and small will appreciate the museum and learn so friendly.

Cinema: The Cinema of Montmédy offers weekly the best films of the moment. It was named "arthouse".
