Finfoots resemble rails or grebes, and have lobed webs on their feet. There are three species, each in a separate genus and each found on a separate continent (Africa, Asia and South America). They inhabit aquatic habitats with dense cover, such as swamps and flooded forest, where they are secretive and difficult to see.
