Gold Lace Cactus is a flowering cactus species native to Mexico.  It is commonly cultivated as an ornamental species and is also commonly known as ladyfinger cactus.  In order to ensure optimal flowering on this species watering should be withheld during the winter and temperatures should be allowed to get somewhat cooler.  Always allow to dry and stay dry for a week between waterings.

Mammillaria elongata forms dense clusters of sharp but harmless yellow and brown spikes that look like gold lace, hence its common name. It is one of the most popular cacti, cultivated worldwide, with dozens of cultivars.  This charming cactus has even earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Way to go, champ!
