Server behavior

Default item drop

During the release day of The Branches of Darkmeyer quest, it was possible to kill Vanescula, a non-attackable quest NPC. She dropped bones (item id 526). This imply that if no drop table is defined for an NPC, this is the default fallback.

NOT SEEN DO NOT TRANSLATE

There used to be a barely visible location (scenery object) in Yu'biusk. The name of the location and it's examine text was NOT SEEN DO NOT TRANSLATE.

Null interactions

Some subjects (locations, NPCs or items) have a right click option that have no defined interaction on the server. This cause the message "Nothing interesting happens." to be printed in the chat.

Known case where this happens are as follow:

  • When trying to talk to Essyllt and Morvran during the start of Regicide quest.
  • When trying to talk to the unreachable guards in Arandar.
  • When trying to interact with an unreachable ladder in the Smoke Dungeon.

In removed content:

  • Before the cutscene was added in the Hazeel Cult quest, talking to Hazeel would do the same.
  • When trying to use the starcaise in the Candlelight random event.

Placeholder NPC examines

Some NPCs added to the Elder God Wars Dungeon had a placeholder examine that simply said ph.

Table interaction

It was once possible to put item on table, but it is no longer possible to do so in RuneScape 3.

Unused Darmeyer music variant

In RuneScape HD and RuneScape 3, there exists an unused variant for the Darkmeyer music track. The music track is quiet compared to the main Darkmeyer music. It was possibly going to be used during the infiltration sequence of The Branches of Darkmeyer quest.

Debug music name used in final version

When RuneScape 2 was first released, there was no music player. When the interface was released, internal names of music tracks were used as their final title. As a result, some music track have title that clash with the game's lore. For example, the music track "egypt" refer to the internal developement prefix that was used on during the making of the desert areas. While it works as an internal name, it make little sense as final title as there is no such thing as Egypt in RuneScape.

The most obvious debug names are as follow:

spooky2
attack1
attack2
attack3
attack4
attack5
attack6
sea shanty2
arabian
wilderness2
wilderness3
venture2
harmony2
egypt
reggae2
tribal2

Early dragon claw behavior

Dragon claws were apparently supposed to either drop in a damaged form and need repairing, or degrade to broken at some point. The config for the unused items has been overwriten at some point.

Unused legacy map render function

In the Java client of RuneScape 3, there was an unused map render function that would render the World map and mini map in the same style as the maps found in RuneScape 2 and RuneScape HD. This was presumably going to be used for the legacy mode interface.
