Edward James Olmos has confirmed he will indeed return as Gaff in Blade Runner 2049.

In an interview with TheTRENDTalk (first spotted by A Perfect Organism podcast, via Bleeding Cool), Olmos said he will reprise his role from the original film. "Yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049," he revealed. Olmos said he signed a non-disclosure agreement, so that's why he's been so light-lipped on his involvement until now.

Olmos also shared a few details about his role in the sequel, saying,"it's not about Gaff, but it's about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then." He noted that his role will be "like it was in the original." While he had four scenes in Blade Runner, Olmos said he'll only have one in 2049, but "it's a poignant little scene."

Olmos joins a cast that includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista and Suicide Squad's Jared Leto.

Blade Runner 2049 takes place several decades after the 1982 original. Prisoners and Sicario helmer Denis Villeneuve is helming the sequel, which will open in theaters on October 6, 2017.
