  • Deciduous shrub, 3-5 ft (0.9-1.5 m) tall, equal width, upright, rigid form, rounded.  Leaves simple, alternate, 2-4 cm long, elliptic to obovate, toothed at rounded apex, bluish green.  Flowers white, 6 mm, in rounded clusters, cover branches in May-June.
  • Sun to part shade, does best in well-drained soil with moderate to high levels of moisture. Prune older stems to the ground to thin and rejuvenate.
  • Sun to part shade, some consider it a superior replacement for Spiraea × vanhouttei.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 3      Native to the island of Shikoku, Japan.
