The Aircraft

Established in July 1955, the USN V-84 adopted the name “Jolly Rogers” in 1960 when they were flying the FJ-3 Fury. After flying the F-4 Phantom II and F8 Crusader, the Jolly Rogers upgraded to the Tomcat in 1976. VF-84 have spent much of their time aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Nimitz prior to their disbandment in October 1995. The title of Jolly Rogers was given to VF-103.
