Abyssinia Rock to Dwellingup, growing in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops. Plants that may be this species have also been found on granite outcrops in the Manjimup and Pemberton areas.

A rare rock inhabiting species 50–150 mm high with a narrow, smooth leaf 60–120 mm long by 5–12 mm wide and up to four blue, white or purple self-pollinating flowers 18–25 mm across.

It is distinguished from the closely related Coastal Sun Orchid (Thelymitra granitora) by its smaller, less numerous flowers and more northerly, inland distribution.
