Three endangered tiger cubs born at the Nashville Zoo last fall are now comfortable in their habitat.

The public can visit the Sumatran tiger cubs — Bulan, Zara and Kirana — at the zoo's Tiger Crossroads habitat. The animals were born last October to mom, Anne. Since their birth, the zoo has provided updates on their growth and wellbeing.

The habitat is open daily from 9 a.m. to noon, starting Friday.

"The habitat space is a new area for the cubs, and they will gradually become more comfortable with it over the next couple of months," the Nashville Zoo wrote. "Zoo guests may periodically see zookeepers inside the exhibit making adjustments while the cubs are behind the scenes. Weather and animal care factors may prevent the cubs from being outside. After noon, Felix (dad) will be in the Tiger Crossroads habitat for guests to see. The cubs time outside may increase as they acclimate to their new surroundings."

Before visiting, guests should call or check the zoo's website to check on availability.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), only 400-600 Sumatran tigers are left in the wild. The Nashville Zoo supports the Tiger Conservation Campaign which fights to save habitats, curb poaching, eliminate the trade of tiger parts and reduce human-tiger conflicts.
