35-Years-Owned 1987 Ferrari Testarossa Straman Convertible

This 1987 Ferrari Testarossa underwent a convertible conversion at Straman Coachworks of Costa Mesa, California in 1988 and was purchased by the seller the same year. It is powered by a 4.9-liter flat-12 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Rosso Corsa over red and white leather. Additional equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a Hyperflo exhaust system, 16″ five-spoke wheels, air conditioning, power windows, a Blaupunkt tape deck, and a gated shifter. The seller reports that a timing belt service was performed in May 2023. This Testarossa convertible is now offered with factory books, a tool kit, Testarossa artwork, a 1:8-scale model Testarossa, a horse statue, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.

The car is finished in Rosso Corsa and was converted by Straman in 1988. Straman badges are mounted below the Pininfarina quarter-panel emblems, and the rear bumper has been modified to accommodate a quad-exit Hyperflo exhaust system. The seller reports that the top is difficult to close and there is areas with touch up paint.

Silver 16″ Cromodora five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 225/50 and 255/50 Goodyear Eagle VR50 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs. The seller notes that the ball joints were serviced.

The cockpit is trimmed in red and white leather, and equipment includes a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, a Blaupunkt cassette player, a gated shifter, standard three-point seatbelts, air conditioning, and power windows.

Veglia instrumentation includes a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. A clock and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and oil temperature are housed in the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 6k of which were added by the seller.

The 4.9-liter flat-12 was factory rated at 380 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. The seller reports that a timing belt service was performed in May 2023 along with replacement spark plugs and wires, exhaust gaskets, air filter, shift rod seal, and an oil change.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The seller notes structural metal was added to the rocker panels during the conversion, which reduced ground clearance. Undercoating was reportedly applied in 2023, and additional underside photos can be found in the gallery.

Tool and jack kits will accompany the car.

A 1:8-scale Testarossa model is also included in the sale, along with Testarossa artwork, Ferrari banners, and a statue of a horse.
