Sumatran Striped Rabbit (Nesolagus netscheri)
Also known as the Sumatran Short-eared Rabbit or the Sumatran Rabbit, the Sumatran striped rabbit is a very rare species of rabbit that has only been found in the Barisan Mountains in western Sumatra. Sumatran striped rabbits are active at night and are very rare and as such not is known about their biology. However, they are known to rest in burrows and feed on plants from the forest’s understory.
The Sumatran striped rabbit is currently listed as vulnerable. It faces threats from habitat loss as its already small range is being cut down.
