Found in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama,and Colombia at elevations of sealevel to 1000 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with an erect, terete, slightly swollen, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, narrowly linear, acute, gradually narrowing below into the clasping base leaves that blooms in the later summer and fall on a terminal, single flowered, short inflorescence.

This species, as others in the genus, has the habit to grow another pseudobulb out of the apex of an older leafless growth.
