Common Name The Spoon-Shaped Satyrium

Found in Cape Province, Natal and Orange Free State in coastal scrub, woodlands and moist to marshy flats among grass at elevations of 70 to 2000 meters in full sun as a miniature to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 4, lower ground hugging leaves grading smaller up the stem that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, to 5 to 13.2" [2 to 33 cm] long, 4 to 85 flowered inflorescence with deflexed, lanceolate 1.5 to 3 times longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying highly fragrant flowers
